Title:
"Sunday at the Hotel with George"
Airdate:
February 10, 1993
Synopsis:
The hotel where Carolyn Blaisdell McCall is having
her wedding reception is taken over by thieves.
Paul's Scenes:
Too many to count, which is always a good thing.
Comments:
Paul has his hair slicked back during the first few
scenes of this episode, and I didn't particularly like that style on him. The rest of the episode, it's back to
his regular style.
This is the first of only three episodes in which
Annie appeared.
As they were getting off the bus, I liked the
way Paul took Annie's hand and told her how many steps there were. I also liked how he rubbed her back the entire time
she was talking to Caine.
This is probably the best episode to see Paul interacting
with his daughters. He dances with Carolyn, and growls at her when she is telling him and Todd how wild she used
to be. I also liked the way he kisses Kelly after she comes back from being held hostage.
I liked the way Carolyn and Kelly tease Peter as Caine
is wiping off the lipstick. It's obvious that they have a close relationship with their brother.
George is one of my favorite villains, and he makes
another appearance in the second season episode "Sunday at the Museum with George".
The man Annie is talking to when Paul comes up to
her right before they take pictures of Carolyn cutting the cake is executive producer/writer Michael Sloan.
Favorite Quotes:
Paul (talking to Caine about Peter): "I've
been holding a tiger by the tail since he was fifteen-years-old."
* * * * *
Caine (talking to Annie): "You do not
use a cane?"
Annie (leaning in to Paul and slipping her arm
around his waist): "Well, he's my cane."
* * * * *
Strenlich (talking to Peter about Paul): "He's
a kind of mystery, isn't he? The old man. Never talks about his life before the police force. I hear
whispers about the CIA and the killing of a top terrorist leader in Nambia. You remember when he just disappeared a
couple of years ago, during Desert Storm? Advising Schwarzkopf. Swear to God, that's what I heard."
* * * * *
Kelly Blaisdell (to the thug who has
just kidnapped her): "Do you know who my father is?"
* * * * *
Paul: "Peter, you're family."
Pet Peeves:
Two things about the wedding that really bothered
me: first, why did they use a Police Task Force bus and a patrol car for transportation instead of limos or whatever, and,
secondly, why was Peter dressed so casually? Not only was he not a member of the wedding party, he wasn't
even wearing a tie.
Even though these are Paul's first scenes with
Caine, it is obvious that they have met previously, as there is no introduction. Also, at some point, Caine was asked
to give the benediction at Carolyn's wedding, so it's obvious they have already met. It's a shame the writers decided
not to show this first meeting, robbing us of the opportunity to see Paul and Annie's reaction upon learning that
Peter's biological father was still alive.
RL Factor:
As good as it gets in this series, in my opinion.
He's in the episode a lot, plus he's wearing a tux. What more could you ask for?
