Title:
"Blind Eye"
Airdate:
May 5, 1993
Synopsis:
Annie Blaisdell is beaten by an unknown assailant
and must overcome the obstacles caused by her blindness in order to help identify her attacker.
Paul's Scenes:
Numerous. My favorite is where he is at
the hospital reminiscing with Annie about their first date. I love the way he looks at her and the way he touches her.
It is obvious in this scene how much he loves her.
Comments:
This is the first time we see the Blaisdell house
(the only other time is in "Retribution"). I love the house and the way it's decorated. It's elegant but
comfortable, just like Paul and Annie. I like the big yard and the gated drive. The house is probably the
biggest indication we have of their wealth - Paul must have made a fortune working for the government.
This is another good episode to see
RL portray a wide range of emotions: worry in the opening scene when he can't find Annie, anger in the scenes with Caine
at the hospital, hurt when he asks Annie why she went to see Mike West, love when he is talking to Annie about their blind
date, and rage in his scene at the hospital with Mike West.
Of the three episodes in which Annie appeared, I
like her hair style better in this one than in the other two.
Notice how Paul calls Annie "Ann" (he does it twice)
in the scene on the back deck after West has been captured.
Favorite Quotes:
Caine (to Annie): "Your presence is very
strong."
* * * * *
Annie (to Caine, about Paul): "I love him
more than life itself."
* * * * *
Mike West: "What are you talking about,
darling?"
Annie: "Don't call me that. My husband
calls me that and I like it when he does, but it doesn't sound right coming from you."
* * * * *
Annie: "This has nothing to do with you,
Paul."
Paul: "Every breath you take in your entire
life has something to do with me."
* * * * *
Paul (to Annie, talking about when
they first met): "And I was very pleased that I'd finally found someone who could see me. Who could see inside
of me."
* * * * *
Strenlich (about Annie): "She's
one of the greatest human beings I've ever known."
Peter: "She's the only mother I've ever
known."
* * * * *
Paul (to Annie): "I love you very
much, babe."
Pet Peeves:
When Annie is trying to make the house dark, why
doesn't she just turn the lights out instead of knocking them out with the poker?
The end scene where Annie thanks Caine for
teaching her to see beyond her eyes really bothers me. First of all, I think it would have been nice if just one time
someone besides Caine could have saved the day - like Paul, particularly since Annie was his wife. Secondly, I thought
the episode should have ended with a scene between Paul and Annie, not one between Annie and Caine.
RL Factor:
Very high and very good.
