Title:
"The Bardo"
Airdate:
April 27, 1994
Synopsis:
Peter sustains a severe head injury and Caine must enter his bardo and calm
his emotional turmoil in order to save his life.
Paul's Scenes:
He's in several. In fact, he's in this episode quite a bit. My favorite is
probably the one with Strenlich where he's telling him how he met Peter at the orphanage and is fighting back
tears.
Comments:
This episode, probably more than any other, shows how much Paul cares about Peter.
Paul is driving the Crown Vic when dispatch notifies him that Peter has been injured.
His call sign is Car 612.
In the scene where Paul saves Peter from being shot, during his fight with the
gunman, the sound effects are waaaay off.
Martin Borycki, one of the show's co-producers, wrote this episode. He also wrote
several others, including "The Possessed".
Incidentally, this episode was the inspiration for my fan fic "A Unique Partnership".
In the scene at the end of the show, where they are wheeling Peter into surgery, Mary Margaret comes up to Paul and Caine
and Paul puts his arm around her. That's what got me started thinking about them working together.
Favorite Quotes:
Paul (referring to Peter's stubbornness): "Wonder which of us he gets
that from?"
Caine: "Both."

Paul (referring to Peter's condition): "There's not a damn
thing I can do. If I could trade places with him, I..."
Caine: "I know that. He knows that."

Paul (giving instructions to the officer assigned to Peter's room):
"I want you outside that door. If somebody wants in, I don't care if it's Florence Nightingale, you get the documentation.
You understand?"
Officer Stack: "Yes, sir."
Paul: "That's my son's room."
Officer Stack: "Yes, sir."
Pet Peeves:
Where the hell was Annie when her son was fighting for his life? It really
burns me up that they didn't show her or at least explain her absence.
RL Factor:
He probably looks worse in this episode than any other in the series.
