Title:
"The Gang of Three"
Airdate:
October 26, 1994
Synopsis:
When crime gets out of control in their neighborhood, three private citizens
decide to take matters into their own hands.
Paul's Scenes:
He's in five or six and they're some pretty good ones. I especially loved
the ones where he was talking to Ness. Ness was so intimidated that you could literally see him shrink back
in fear.
Comments:
There's a great shot of Paul's baby blues in one of the scenes with Ness, the one
where he's talking to him about his previous line of work.
We get to see a couple of really good shots of Paul's office in this episode.
In one scene, you can see his fishing pole in the corner.
Although I wasn't crazy about the tie that he was wearing with it, I loved the
double-breasted suit he had on in the first part of the episode. If I'm not mistaken, he has it on again in "Retribution".
I believe that this is the only episode we see Paul smoking a cigar.
Even though they didn't have very much air time, I enjoyed the scenes with Strenlich
and Mary Margaret. Strenlich made Paul realize he'd been too hard on Peter, and Skalany was her usual inquisitive self
listening in on Peter's conversation with Nan. I loved some of the comments she made.
Paul, Mary Margaret, and Strenlich arrived at the crime scene in the red Ford Taurus.
Paul was wearing the gray parka that I don't like.
Favorite Quotes:
Mary Margaret (to Peter, when she sees a furious Paul approaching him):
"Well, there's a tremor building at 7.2 on the Richter scale and it's coming right at you."
* * * * *
Paul: "Little things lead to big things. A car gets stolen in Beirut.
A week later it's run into the American Embassy chock full of C-4.
Peter: "Rumor has it that you were there when that happened. That you led
the counter assault..."
Paul (interrupting): "We're not here to talk about my personal history,
all right?"

Sean Ness (to Paul, after Peter goes after him during questioning):
"You gonna let him do that, touch me like that?"
Paul: "I'll tell you what I'm going to let him do. I'm going to
walk out the door there. I'm going to close the door and I'm going to lock it. And I'm going to turn the
radio up real loud and I'm going to let him do what the hell he wants to to you unless we get some straight answers."

Paul (to Ness): "I came to police work kind of late.
Before that the kind of work I did wasn't so polite. If I wanted
a confession from somebody, they confessed. Or they bled to death. Now, you get your lawyer here and I want you
to think about what you're going to answer when I ask you these same questions all over again."
* * * * *
Ness (to Paul, when he's released from custody): "Got any more
threats for me? I'd sure like my attorney to hear them."
Lawyer (to Paul): "My client will be filing charges against
you and this precinct for harassment, police brutality, and obstruction of justice."
Paul (under his breath): "Sheesh, that's a good one."
Lawyer: "His justice."
Paul (walking over to Ness and getting in his face): "You can
walk the streets, but that doesn't mean you're a free man. We'll be watching you. We'll be dogging your steps.
We'll be shadows you can't shake."
Lawyer: "That's threatening."
Paul: "Yeah, that's right, it is. Why don't you add it to the
list?"
Pet Peeves:
Caine preaching non-violence to the private citizens and then beating the shit
out of the bad guys.
The character of Nan and her sanctimonious personality. I wanted to knock
her out of her wheelchair.
RL Factor:
Even though he's obviously ill, he still has a very strong physical presence.
The intensity that he shows in the scenes with Ness is a sight to behold.
