| A recent publicity shot of Ron Harper. |
RON HARPER (Det. Bert Kling) - Ron was born in Pennsylvania on January 12, 1936. While
an udergraduate at Princeton University, he became interested in acting. After a stint in the Navy, he studied
under reknowned acting coach Lee Strasberg, and was eventually cast as Paul Newman's understudy in Tennessee Williams'
play, Sweet Bird of Youth. Shortly thereafter, Universal studios signed him to a three-year contract that
guaranteed him three pilots, the first of which was 87th Precinct. After the show was cancelled, Harper
went on to star in several other series, most notably Garrison's Gorillas, a WWII drama in which he played.
Lt. Craig Garrison, and The Planet of the Apes, in which he played Alan Virdon. Later on in his career, he
appeared in several soaps and is still acting today, mostly making guest appearances on such well-known shows
as Hill Street Blues, Melrose Place, Walker, Texas Ranger, and The West Wing. He
also recently appeared in the blockbuster film Pearl Harbor. For a more complete list of his credits, you can
check out his page at IMDb. Harper is divorced

| A picture of Walcott from Plan 9 from Outer Space. |
GREGORY WALCOTT (Det. Roger Havilland)
-Greg was born on January 13, 1928, in Wilson, North Carolina. His real
name was Bernard Mattox. After being discharged from the Army, he hitchhiked to California to pursue an acting career.
He went on to be cast in hundreds of movies and television shows, mainly westerns and war movies, and has worked
with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including Clint Eastwood in numerous films, and with Gregory Peck in Captain
Newman, M.D. He was the lead in the cult movie classic Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959), which was directed
by Ed Wood and is often considered by many critics to be the worst movie ever made. Walcott, who is also a Baptist lay minister, has been married since 1954 to his wife, Barbara, and
they have three children and three grandchildren. As far as I can determine, he is still living in California.
I have found pictures of him attending fan events as recently as the summer of 2006, and they can be found in the
links section on the main 87th Precinct page.
NORMAN FELL (Det. Meyer Meyer)
- Norman was
born in Philadelphia, PA on March 24, 1924, and graduated from Temple University with a degree in drama. After
serving in the Air Force in the Pacific during WWII, he went to California to study acting. He went on to have a long,
successful career, having parts in such films as The Graduate, Bullitt, and Catch-22.
In addition to his role on 87th Precinct, he also co-starred with Burt Reynolds in the short-lived TV series Dan
August. He was probably best-known for playing Stanley Roper, the cranky landlord, on the hit television series
Three's Company and its spin-off, The Ropers. He won a Golden Globe for Best Actor
in a Supporting Role in 1979 for his work on Three's Company, and was also nominated for a Emmy award for his
work on Rich Man, Poor Man. He died of cancer on December 14, 1998, at the age of 74, and was survived
by two daughters.
